Princess "Sakura" of Clow is a crossover character from her original series Cardcaptor Sakura. Their character traits might be similar, but "Sakura" is not to be confused with Sakura Kinomoto. "Sakura" is not her true name, her true name is Tsubasa, the same as "Syaoran Li"'s. Her false name means "Cherry blossom" while her real name means "wings" in Japanese. For more than half of the series, "Sakura" is not seen nor is she even known to exist. Clone Sakura instead gets a greater role in the series, though after revealing both Sakura's past she becomes more important to the story.
After the Nihon Arc, Fei Wong reveals that he had cloned Sakura as he had with Syaoran. Thanks to Watanuki, Yuko discovers where the Real Sakura is, which is Kingdom of Clow's stagnant time, where Fei Wong Reed has her captive there.
Syaoran had met Sakura in the original timeline (Timeline A), whose parents were Fujitaka and Nadeshiko of Clow. This Sakura was held captive by Fei Wong Reed at a 7-year-old age due to Syaoran's request of taking back her hand.
Due to the distortions caused by Syaoran's wish, another timeline was created (Timeline B). As a result, alternate selves to the ones in timeline A were created, thus creating another Sakura. Also, Fujitaka became an archeologist and was no longer her father, Nadeshiko died, Toya and Yukito were still the same though Yukito became the High Priest instead of Queen Nadeshiko.
This is the Sakura who grew up with Clone Syaoran up to the age of 14. This is when Fei Wong Reed captures and clones her (Ch. 001).
In chapter 181, Sakura's body is with Fei Wong Reed, but it was confirmed that the body was the clone's. Further explaining this, Fei Wong told Kyle when he cloned Real Sakura (B), both the body and soul, it was different from when he cloned Syaoran. So then Real Sakura's body had "destroyed", so only her soul was left and Clone Sakura's body will be used once Sakura gains her wings back. Real Sakura's soul (B) was seen at the end of chapter 178 [in a flashback], it was released into the tube (this tube looks identical to the tube in chapter 001).
What is also confirmed by Yūko is that Fei Wong Reed is in a "cut-off time" Clow Country with Sakura's cloned body and real soul. Yuuko found out his location only recently, in volume five of xxxHolic during the soul stealing incident. By following the souls, which Fei Wong Reed has been stealing; it is possible to discover his location (though, by her discovering his location, Fei Wong also found out Yuuko's location). Syaoran, Fay, and Kurogane have recently set off to Clow Country for the "final battle" and to rescue both Sakuras, the Clone, and the Original.
The group arrive to Clow Country (in the original timeline A), within the stopped time very close to Sakura's seventh birthday. Syaoran then reveals that the original Sakura was by his side all the time up until he was captured. He also reveals that he had known Sakura since "seven days before her birthday, right up to the age you see me now." Syaoran explains further that time was reversed by way of a price to Yūko.
Temporal Line A
In 'Syaoran's flashback, it is revealed that he gave his name to Sakura as "Li Syaoran", the same name as his father. It is also revealed that Sakura's mother was Nadeshiko, and that Fujitaka was Sakura's father, not Clow Reed. In chapter 191, Syaoran tells Sakura that she looks exactly like his mother (Clone Sakura) and shares the same name as his mother as well, to which Sakura responds "But.. My name..", thus hinting that, like Syaoran, Sakura is not her real name.
An emphasis seems to be put on how "Syaoran" and Sakura cannot touch. Due to the cleansing before her birthday, Sakura is not able to be touched. At the beginning of Tsubasa - in the tube, "Syaoran" and Sakura are separated by glass; not able to touch. However, cover of volume 23 and the splash page of chapter 183 has them holding hands.
At the end of chapter 193, Sakura takes "Syaoran" up to the top of the castle, to show him the stars. Her eyes suddenly go blank, and her body rises up in the air - she hears the sound of bells coming from the ruins (like chapter 1). In chapter 194, a page is shown of what Sakura is seeing in the future, which includes "Syaoran" running towards her desperately in the ruins. Returning back to the present, "Syaoran"'s running figure is reflected in her eyes (she is still seeing the future); and she screams out "SYAORAN!!". Sakura falls down suddenly, to "Syaoran"'s horror. She tells him it is too dangerous, and to stay back; although Syaoran does not know what it could be that is dangerous.
"Syaoran" is aware that something bad is going to happen on the 7th day, and has been granted permission to go to the cleansing grounds with Sakura on that day; in order to protect her. The cleansing grounds have permitted his presence, so he is able to enter - even though nobody else (not even the priest) is allowed in the 7th day.
During the seventh day, Syaoran enters the Ruins with Sakura, who seems to remember nothing of the previous night's vision. When inside the Ruins, Fei Wong opens a rift and attempts to abduct Sakura, but the water protects her. Syaoran runs towards Sakura, yelling at her to open her eyes, before screaming "SAKURA!!" as he had in the vision. Sakura then states her true name is not "Sakura": "But... my real name is...". Syaoran reaches for her, but stops, knowing Sakura is still in the middle of her purification. Sakura is then swallowed by the black mass. When the mass parts, Sakura is shown to have a seal in the shape of wings engraved - when this seal reaches full-size, Sakura will die. Syaoran attacks Fei Wong but is defeated before being returned to his dimension. Sakura sees him when he returns seven days later. It is revealed that only Syaoran and Nadeshiko can see the seal engraved on her. Syaoran vows to find a way to remove the seal.
Seven years go by, with the seal growing bigger each year. In events that mirror the first chapter, Syaoran returns from another country after failing to find a way to remove Sakura's seal. Sakura visits and talks with Syaoran before returning to the palace, saying that she will tell him what she wants to say on her birthday.
On her birthday, everyone assembles inside the Ruins for Sakura's "coming of age" ceremony. On her 14th, Syaoran wishes Sakura a happy birthday when the seal engulfs her completely. Nadeshiko stops time and "dies" doing so. Syaoran's wish to go back to the seventh day to grab her hand is granted afterward by Fei Wong, creating Watanuki in the process, unfolding every events that followed.
Temporal Line B
In timeline B, at the start of the series Sakura is the princess of the Kingdom of Clow, her father is Clow Reed, Nadeshiko is no longer Sakura's mother, and Fujitaka becomes Clone Syaoran's father.
Up to age 14, Sakura's grown up with Clone Syaoran and has feelings for him. In chapter 001, she is ready to confess her love for Syaoran. Later on, she goes on trying to find Syaoran at the ruins and is captured by Fei Wong Reed, therefore cloned and swapped by him, so that Syaoran would believe that he needed to save her life by locating her feathers.
In chapter 178, Fei Wong reveals that Sakura was cloned and that he had kept her soul in the tube. Her body was believed to have "destroyed", but this was corrected later on in the Clow Arc, when Yuko said that she had saved her body.
Sakura's soul is never mentioned again.
Clow/Tokyo's Future arcAfter Syaoran finishes explaining, the group finds a 7-year old real Sakura (A) as the seal is being cast upon her. Syaoran remarks that the time to take Sakura's hand as he had wished is coming soon.
After a battle with the Clone and the death of Kyle Rondart, time begins to move again, and the seal seemingly consumes Sakura before Syaoran can reverse his actions.
Kurogane and Fye strike at Fei Wong, while Syaoran finally grabs Sakura's hand. But then Sakura is pulled back to Fei Wong, Syaoran's choice to take her hand also causes someone else with her same fate to be called back to death. The person who had her time severed as Sakura, is Yuko.
In Chapter 215, Clone Sakura's body and Real Sakura (A) merge together wearing the same dress as seen in the Dream World. At the end of the chapter, a room that resembles Yuko's storage room is shown and the first scene of the story appears.
Yuko states that she saved Sakura's body (B)before it shattered, bringing it to the Dream World along with Clone Sakura's soul, and Clone Syaoran (Ch. 219).
After Yuko explained Fei Wong's real motives and before she died, she gave a new life to the clones, who paradoxically become "Syaoran"'s parents. Fei Wong realizes that she is dead and swears to do anything to revive her. So, he uses the clones once more until he can revive Yuko.
The Clones are being dragged by the "tube", but surprisingly Sakura wakes up and grabs Clone Sakura's arm, just like "Syaoran" does with Clone Syaoran. As a result the four of them end up trapped inside the tube.
Clone Sakura reveals that she feared this destiny, since she had the ability of seeing the future, even when Sakura was trapped in the "cut off" time in Clow. Sakura, in turn replies to her that her existence means a lot to her as well.
To avoid this future and avoid any of them being erased, both Sakuras proceed to use the power within them, "the power to transcend dimensions and time". This comes to a shock to Fei Wong, who tries reasoning with them, telling them that doing so would only break the time-space for once and for all. But the Sakuras and Syaorans are confident that they will change the future.
Once the Sakuras have used their power, Fei Wong comes to a shock which Kurogane took advantage of, and gave him his last strike. Thus, the Sakuras break free from the tube and Fei Wong starts to disintegrate, not before telling them that he is the same as Syaoran (hinting that he is a created being as well) and that they both must pay for their sins.
Both Syaorans are trapped inside a world of nothingness, and Watanuki appears. As Clone Syaoran explains that he must now disappear (because his creator is gone, and so must their creations), Clone Sakura disappears too. Watanuki and "Syaoran" choose their price to escape, and at last, the both of them are brought back to their worlds. Once there, the originals, Syaoran and Sakura, absorb the feathers left behind by their clones.
"Sakura", "Syaoran", Kurogane, Fai, and Mokona are back at Clow Country. Since the world has been turned back to normal, "Sakura"'s parents, both Fujitaka and Nadeshiko, are brought back to normal. The Royal family of Clow (including Touya and Yukito) are now fully aware of the events that took place.
"Sakura" sets out to find "Syaoran", as Kurogane and Fai explain that "Syaoran" is now left alone in the world, left behind, without his parents. Additionally, they explain that the feathers that the originals absorbed are actually the clones' memories - or souls.
"Syaoran" explains the price he paid was to continue his journey, until he finds a way to bring back his clone, while "Sakura" wishes for the same thing, to see her other self once more. But to continue this journey with "Syaoran" would become painful to him, if "Sakura" meant to come along. So, she chooses to stay behind and wait for him to return. Before leaving, "Syaoran" finally confesses to her, telling her "I love you", to which she replies, "I love you too".
At this point, Kurogane, Fai, and Mokona arrive at the scene, the three of them planning to join "Syaoran" in this new journey, as Mokona shows them Black Mokona's ring, which had stored Watanuki's and Clone Sakura's memories inside. This way, they will be able to return to Clow and visit Yuko's old shop often.
As they leave, both Sakura and Syaoran reveal that their real names are one and the same: Tsubasa.
Afterward, Sakura stays in Clow, wishing and knowing that they will meet once more.
Watanuki allowed Syaoran and the group to go back to Clow after discovering a new signature. It is unknown how this meeting happened, but it is the first time Syaoran and Sakura meet after the series ended.
